Oh well, I guess ill go back to my job of selling oranges, where i get paid the same salary as a Brain Surgon. Yay "equality".

So you're saying people who pay a large amount of actual money to buy a game and an internet connection who only play casually shouldnt be able to access the same extent of it's features as someone sitting at the computer all day staring at the screen? Guild Wars was made for the casual player (henchmen so you can play an online game solo if you want), don't turn on the people you market your game to Anet; allow rare skins to be aqquired easier than farming every day for 6 months.

The point is that these weapons offer nothing more than vanity. Yes, this game is designed for the casual player but that doesn't mean that there aren't people that play a few hours a day.

I don't know why this concept is so hard to grasp: THOSE SKINS WON'T BE RARE ANYMORE!

Unfortunately the two don't add up.
The reason all games should have rare weapons, armours, etc is so people have something to work (grind) for, keeping interest in the game for longer.

QFT. I usually don't do much posting on these forums, mostly look around and see what's happening in the community, but all of the drama leads back to this. I for one am very happy with the amount of nice skins dropping now in Hard Mode, my guildie who sought after this skin for months since Nightfall release finally got a req.9 one yesterday. If this are the kind of changes to come with the implementation of Hard Mode and its drop system, then by all means, keep it coming!

Looking at it the other side:
Now that he or she has got a weapon that would usually require more time and possibly effort to gain, do they feel the same kinda rush they would have felt before at getting a rare rare weapon to drop and also what will they do after all the rare weapons they could hope to get are dropped for them a bit easier in HM and they have nothing left to work for?

so true. I originally posted the spot in my thread on a corsair build and after that spammed it on Shadow's thread FTW.
Here's how I get rare skinned items without months of farming. I just play the game and have fun. In fact its even more fun when u play the game (including the missions) solo. And eventually a rare skinned item will pop up and you will get the same elated feeling without the 3 months of torture. Boring urself with farming is not what games are for people. games are for FUN.

I can totally see where you're coming from. Some people just hate the idea of farming and grind. But there are some of us that actually find it fun

Alot of you are posting that people should be equal in terms of items and equipment...
Isn't that how communism started?
I really didn't think there was anything wrong with the Economy. If there was something I wanted, I either got it my self, or I took different avenues of approach to acquire the money needed for said object.
Besides, why not reward the crazy hardcore players with niffy expensive stuff that they worked for?

There are other ways to make money in the game that don't require selling to other players. And if prices drop then you won't need the 50k from a single sale to buy something else from somebody else. Dropping prices doesn't mean you won't be able to buy things like chest keys... It just means you will be able to buy different skins without needing 100k+ectos. The fixed in game economy from merchants and NPCs won't change in relation to your ability to make money in the surrounding world, and Hard Mode increases the degree to which you profit doing that. In 2 nights I made over 30k just playing hard mode.... doesn't sound like much if prices are still really high, but once they drop, 30k is respectable.

Weapons will get cheaper.... sure.
Armour won't.
15k Armour still has a base price of 75k overall, not counting the cost of materials. There are no fixed farming points for Runes... nor even dyes.... so those prices will perpetually remain high. Same goes for insignias now for Nightfall armour (though I usually avoid that if I can, especially if I want +energy armour).
And kitting out the extra few folks for my Guild Hall is still going to cost an absolute bomb.... since almost all the ones left over are 100k each....
It isn't pretty.
With the value of gold going up against gear... npc-sold items stay at the same price and slip gradually out of reach.... And to think that is all I ever wanted to buy anyway.

Lol how naive the people are who want rare items for cheap.
They're not RARE for nothing. If everyone and their mother can get a weapon without having to do anything for it, the rarity will drop, and so will the interest in the weapon, and that makes another weapon tossed aside.
Sure, some might like it for the skin, but I think that 99% would rather want a Colossal Scimitar for the rarity, or for some sort of collection.
Oh, and casual players don't have time to look at their weapon's skin. They got enough quests and missions to do in the little time they got per day, I don't think they would be bothered with special skins.
Today's community is spoiled, what's next, a 'Beat the game' button? Sure, you got the weapon, or beat the game, but you lost the pride. After all, what's the use of gold/purple/blue items at all, if everyone and their mother can get what they want with just a push on the button?
By the way, where are the people telling that farmers RAISE the prices, now? ;D

No the concept isn't lost, it's just that there is too much elitism. I'm willing to bet 90% of the people who have moaned about this price drop are those who:
1. are ridiculously rich and have lots of nice things
2. spent hundred of thousands on a Colossal Scimitar a while ago
Nobody knew for sure that this was going to happen so look at it from another point of view. When you bought your Colossal say, six months ago, you never knew it would drop really low, so in your mind it was a good deal. It's not like all the skins are cheaper now, just one or two. If anyone bothered to read my previous post, they would notice I stated that some skins should stay very rare, but not all. We do need rare skins for people to work hard for, but that needs to be the factor for obtaining them, not the amount of gold one has in their storage.

Indeed. Reverse this and you get what Guild Wars is heading to.
Everyone can get it-->becomes cheap--> nobody wants stuff--> No more use for gold/purple/blue rarities - everything is simple to get anyway, people playing 5 hours a day don't get ANYTHING more than someone playing 5 hours per week.
